IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Storage of Timbers
Packs should be stored up off the ground on bearers and undercover and protected with an additional tarp to shield them from the elements, both the sun and rain.
Expansion Gap
Boards must be installed with an expansion gap indicated by the shadow line. The shadow line is a very slight raised section on the tongue. This spacing will allow for movement of the timber as ambient humidity and conditions change.
Weather Conditions
Boards should not be installed on hot windy days or in full direct sun. These conditions increase the risk of boards cupping or distorting.
Drip Edge
The drip edge is designed to direct water away from the end grain.
Tannin Bleed
Tannins are natural extractives present in most timbers and can cause unsightly stains on surrounding materials. Tannin removers are available, alternatively, we recommend you keep areas covered until the tannins have leached (normally within 3 months).
Black Metal Staining
Black metal stains occur when Iron dust/filings sit on timber and react with water & timber tannins. We recommend no grinding/cutting next to timbers. These stains can be removed by using oxalic acid.
